This afternoon i was watching C-span and stopped when i saw cliff sterns speaking about the truth in caller id act! My sister had interned with him … and as a republican representing Florida 6th district was very interested in what they had to say…. I didn’t catch the entire program so still and to do some research and see what the final outcome is concerning the caller id act… but it is still my understanding that spoofing ( changing a caller id… and even the ability to change a person’s voice when calling an individual with the intent to harm…. is now passed as a bill and waiting for the presidents signature to sign it into a law… how exciting… to be able to outlaw caller id spoofing with the intennt to defraud cause harm or wrongfully used with enhanced penalities… penalities r both criminal and civil …. i thought all of this was already taken care of …. so maybe it was a rerun.. but on the television it did say it was live… with joe Barton from Texas, Cliff Sterns from Florida , Timothy Murphy from Pennsylvania , and Mr. Barton and Rick Boucher from Virginia,
interesting to hear that Mr. Murphy had the Murphy Scott Phone Act even before this truth in caller id act.
so that must mean this has been an on going issue and problem for a long time… they even gave various examples of the illegal uses and the consequences of illegally using both spoofing and of even changing someone’s voice…. using a “spoof card” that will disguise a voice to trick people.
I told people this was happening and no one paid attention! ( actually now that i think of it.. i was probably speaking on the phone to one of these criminals… no wonder they didn’t want to help me catch the “spoofers”… or the the criminals. involved .. or want me to make a stink about any of it…. in fact i know i was even told over the phone not to tell the police.… that no one would believe me… and that it is too hard to prove so they will continue to just get away with what they have been doing for years!!!!!!!!
even just the other day, a person returned my phone call to discuss the article i had read about murphy’s village… he was supposed to have worked in law enforcement… actually asked me if i was a police officer…. and almost verbatim read me back the article i had called about … but knew no additional cases to cite, no additional arrests made and pretty much tried to dissuade me from doing any further investigation or research to see if any of these families could be related to any number of thefts or incidents there i was the victim…. don’t the police usually know the cases in which they have had to arrest people? and aren’t they able to also give various references for research or even contacts in the area to try o find who or where the criminals are? I mean perhaps the person is who they say they are… but after all the weird experiences i have had… i just don’t trust like i used to …. and if it wasn’t the correct person …. do they realize that it is a felony to impersonate a police officer?…..
Even today… a friend of mine, Scott, sent me a lovely Christmas gift…. and it was at my front door.. early this morning… may have even been there last night… . but basically ripped open on two sides…. I’m sure he didn’t send it that way… and i go immediately to mail theft because of the Westlaw Id that was stolen .. and the birth certificate that was ripped open and a receipt missing ….. Guess I’ll ask the post man when i see him…and give him a card this holiday season… and get to the bottom of this….
Like i mentioned before… its weird things like getting a phone call telling me one thing then another one telling me the exact opposite… speaking of Christmas… i know i got a phone call form my sister telling me that she had bought me this pair of cashmere pajamas…( years ago… . then instead i got a picture frame… so is it someone just changing their mind about a gift… or someone actually sealing what i was supposed to get before i get it… HA!… actually it is not funny… not any more….
I guess that saves these criminals the time and effort of breaking into my home to steal items… they just take something that was meant for me before i ever even see it…. If that really did or does happen.. what absolute parasites… feeding on a host
( person and family) until there is nothing left… basically sucking the life out of them…. bit by bit…or money or gifts.. or using their friendships or relationships.. then sucking the money out of them as well…. I wonder if that was why Gerard had asked all those personal questions about my family… my extended family… about my bank accounts.. . about everything… UGG i guess once these slimy criminals gets a hold of your life and information.. there may be no way out!
Now all i have to do make sure these criminals are stopped and put in jail!
